Les déchets plastiques, un dangeux pour le cheptel malien !
Le cheptel du Mali constitue une richesse énorme. Les déchets plastiques sont spécifiquement dangereux pour les ruminants.
Une fois mangé, le plastique reste dans la panse, bouchant la digestion.
L'animal maigrit et devient anémié et constipé, avec le ventre gonflé. Il devient agressif. Finalement, il y a une telle diminution de production de lait et de la viande que certaines vaches sont même rejetées par l'abattoir.
Si l'animal n'est pas opéré, il meurt.
Au Mali, chaque mois les spécialistes opèrent pour sauver la vie à des animaux. Au cours d'une opération de routine, il fut enlevé 20 kilos de plastique de la panse d'une vache selon M. Traoré, vétérinaire à Kati.
Mais cette opération coûte chère, 15.000 F CFA par intervention.
Selon le vétérinaire Traoré, tous les animaux en ville ont avalé du plastique.
D'o? vient tout ce plastique?
Au Mali, six (06) usines et neuf (09) sociétés (chiffres qui ont sans doute évolué depuis) qu'ils importent ces matières. Les granulés plastiques importés sont utilisés pour faire des tuyaux et d'autres produits très demandés.
La quantité des plastiques importées au Mali est d'environ 2 millions et demi de tonnes (2.500.000 t) par an.
Peut-on recycler les déchets ?
Les déchets d'usine sont faciles à recycler.
Le recyclage des déchets plastiques externes (ceux produits après usage des plastiques) pose toujours des problèmes.
Une exception: les chaussures en plastique.
Parce qu'ils sont bon marché, des articles en plastique jouent un rôle important dans la vie des Maliens.
Cependant l'usage des sachets et de l'emballage plastique est exagéré.
Ce sont les petits sachets qui causent le plus grand problème ici. j'espère qu'un jour nous parviendrons à héradiquer ce fléau.
