Little H - The Tiny Spaces Project

Tiny, tiny is the word to be. http://www.littleheartmovement.org/?page_id=7 When I visited Calcutta, I met a man. This man became a friend. His name is Probir Guha. He is a very active character in Bengali street theatre. This man once told me: - “Anushree, I should call you Anushree... because this name means small is beautiful?. Anushree means small is beautiful in Bengali That is what my friend Probir Guha said about me. These words set up the first stop of my caravan chimeric trip around India. I wanted to travel in one of those huge Tata trucks, ornamented with woods panels and hand painted. I wanted it to be « a stage on the move ». I imagined a truck full of tricks, where we could have so many images to show to the Indian villages kids. Something like this: http://www.littleheartmovement.org/?p=974 To dance, to sing in the dark... http://www.littleheartmovement.org/?p=488 ... I came back to Paris to finalize my PhD thesis. I had no money; therefore I had to fit myself into a tiny, tiny space. 9m2 = 3m x 3m. A cube. The room was the cheapest room I could ever find. There was no window. Only a light shaft that I could open while pulling on a piece of rope. There was not shower, only a single tap. I felt that PhD was set to be another journey. An idle journey throughout le long experiment of writing times. Because I was mostly depressed during the cold winters I started designing an anti gravity centre. For time pass, I conceived some experimentation on time resistance and space animation. Seeking for peace, I started a « One week experiment project » http://www.littleheartmovement.org/?p=791 I stayed 8 days in my room. In bed. Reading and writing. 11 Friends came to visit and feed me. http://www.littleheartmovement.org/?p=1075 Meditation practice made me learn how to enjoy the light, coming from the top. Sometimes rain comes from the window And wakes me up at night, while sleeping. It is like a pinch, of life, on my cheek. Adorable. The most difficult thing for me was to renounce watching the stars. All sailors guide their way, following constellations. Therefore I hung light garlands and put candle glasses here and there, to create a tridimensional sky map. At night, I can see stars glittering. From the light shaft grid, I hung some candle glasses. During winter, I like lighting them up, to keep me warm in mind. When snowflakes come to fall from the light shaft, the two elements combined (snow and flames), create like miracles. Some days, I might hurt my head with a glass. The floating chandelier for me to remember to be mindful ?? « Watch watch watch ! Jump ! » teaches the Gurukkal (master) to his martial arts students in the kalari . Moving in space and times are very precise matters. Such as in a boat, in my room, each thing has its proper space. And as I used to be « on the move » for a long time, my furniture is rolling. Changing sceneries as theatre set, during the day, I tend to experiment transmorphic spaces. I actually designed my Anushree caravan without noticing it. It is an idle caravan, but I guess... I think, this is all what this space is about: some mapping experimentation of time we can't retain.
